If you’ve just returned from a two-week holiday or are signing up for a gym membership for the first time, finding the motivation and time to work out can be a challenge. Amanda Cerny, a multi-talented former Vine star, Playboy model, actor, and fitness entrepreneur with 24.5 million Instagram followers, knows this struggle well.
Growing up in Connecticut, Amanda was no stranger to physical activity. Her mother owned a karate studio and encouraged Amanda and her sisters to try everything from running with their Black Labrador to surfing. Despite her long-standing love for the endorphins and mental clarity that come from a good workout, Amanda admits that making time for exercise can be tough, even for someone like her.
“It may not be something you’re initially going to enjoy,” Amanda shares, offering advice on starting a fitness journey. “It does take a little bit of discomfort in the beginning. I recently went through a period where I wasn’t working out much because I had just gotten a puppy. I was running around like crazy just figuring out how to function.”
To manage her new responsibilities, Amanda had to adjust her schedule. “I’m not really a morning person, but I had to get up earlier to take the dogs for their walk,” she explains. This time efficiency mindset inspired Amanda to launch her 60-Day Total Body Band Programme with TRUCONNECT by TV.FIT. This program utilizes resistance bands, which are versatile, space-saving, and affordable, making it accessible for anyone.
“The first week [getting back into working out] was the hardest,” Amanda admits. “Getting back into my routine and waking up early every day was tough, but I quickly found that I was excited to have that part of my routine back.” Despite her dislike for early alarms, Amanda noticed the positive impact of her workouts on her overall wellbeing. “When I work out in the morning, I’m more energized throughout the rest of the day. I’m more productive, not drained, and it actually increases my energy, clears my mind, and de-stresses me.”
Amanda emphasizes that pushing through the initial discomfort is key to making fitness a necessity in daily life. Building and maintaining healthy habits is crucial, which is why she and her personal trainer boyfriend, Johannes Bartl, partnered with the TRUCONNECT app.
Their program combines a range of resistance band workouts that can be tailored to different fitness levels and can be done at home or in a gym. “Sixty days is the point at which you’re actually going to see real, significant results and build a long-term habit,” Amanda explains. “After the 60 days, you can go back into the program with higher resistance to continue seeing results.”
Amanda also encourages being adventurous with workouts to keep the brain engaged and to find something enjoyable. “With our program, there’s a bunch of different movements that are non-stop and keep you mentally stimulated,” she says. “With runs on a treadmill, for example, I get so bored.”
Variety is essential not only in workouts but also in diets. Amanda, who is vegan, highlights the importance of diversifying meals. “You don’t want to eat the same things every single day,” she stresses. “It is a little bit more work being a vegan, but it’s important to diversify your diet to get all the necessary vitamins and avoid food allergies, especially in children.”
“I know we all stick to our favorite dishes, but food is one of the most important things we can invest in. It’s our health and enjoyment. There are a million different healthy and simple recipes online,” Amanda adds. Her go-to kitchen hack is finding easy, five-ingredient recipes using pantry staples like lentils and spinach. She also uses a meal delivery service, Trifecta, for vegan meal options.
Amanda’s final tip for creating a lasting wellness routine? Laughter. Anyone who follows her on Instagram knows she’s funny. Humor and light-heartedness are central to everything she does, from comedy sketches to fitness plans. This approach helped her build a strong following, starting from Vine and transitioning to other platforms and Hollywood. She naturally began sharing her fitness routine after fans showed interest in her lifestyle, including skincare.
“Everything’s about balance and not taking life too seriously,” Amanda laughs. “It makes whatever you’re doing sustainable.”
